Times have changed. Used to be, Fido slept on a pile of rags. Or just right there on the floor. Now, not only do dogs have beds, but designer dog beds are available.
You can deck your pet out with all manner of fancy designer accessories-designer collars, leashes, haircuts and grooming, and even designer clothes. Tell you what, though. Your pooch will appreciate a designer bed more than a new sweater. Guaranteed. If you want to equip your house with designer dog beds, consider not just local boutiques but the internet. There are many websites that carry exclusive lines of designer dog beds.
Recognizable Names Mean Higher Prices
If the normal pet beds, with their ample options for style and color, just aren't impressive and stylish enough, expect to spend money. Whereas normal beds are available for about $50, designer dog beds are a lot more pricey. Expect to pay twice as much or more for designer dog beds. In fact, the sky's the limit.
Designer Dog Beds: Shapes and Styles
Designer dog beds sometimes are similar in style or configuration to regular dog beds. However, even where beds follow the same form factor as non-designer beds, the designer who puts his or her name on the label has thought out the look and style. These beds come in just about any style, shape or size your heart can possibly desire.
A typical form factor for designer dog beds is the 'donut' style. They don't resemble donuts all that much, as the bottom is actually solid and cushiony. They do have a ringed edge, also cushiony, and this edge is what gives this style of designer dog beds its name. The ring part of the bed makes for an excellent headrest for your pet.
Some designer dog beds are in keeping with the tendency to see dogs as little humans. People put sweaters on their dogs, so why not designer dog beds that resemble little sofas? These mini sofas are most likely available in a shape and color that matches your own sofa, and may also even be customizable.
Some are even styled to look like little people beds! These designer dog beds come complete with headboards and footboards in some cases. Other designer dog beds hide the actual dog bed away in a piece of ordinary looking furniture, such as a table or taboret.
Beds with Custom Aspects
Some designer dog beds are available which have advanced functions to increase your pet's comfort. For example, heated dog beds are available. These heated dog beds are ideal for older or arthritic dogs. Heated dog beds may not be the ideal pet beds in warmer climates, however. In hot climates, beds are available with cooling pads.
Designer Dog Beds and Your Dog
Your dog's bed should do more than satisfy your sense of style. It needs to satisfy your dog. That means it need to be comfy and have enough room for him or her to turn around. If your dog chews things, get chew proof designer dog beds.
Take your dog's sleeping habits into account also. A fancy doghouse-style bed, which neatly hides your dog's bed away, isn't going to be all that useful if your dog doesn't like small, enclosed spaces. You don't want to spend a lot of money on pet beds for your dog only to have him ignore it.
If you don't want to replace that puppy bed, get one big enough for puppy to grow into. You will either have to buy a large bed later, or just buy one at the start. If your puppy is a larger breed it may be a waste of money to buy a small bed when he is small, as they grow fast.
